| ABOUT THE PROGRAM: | The Honors College incorporates a style of learning at WVU tailored to highly motivated students. Honors courses, designed to stimulate creativity and to provoke in-depth discussion, are offered in small enrollment classes. First-rate faculty teach the Honors classes. These same teachers and other faculty members serve as Honors advisors, guiding students through their individual academic programs. To graduate as a Presidential Honors Scholar one must complete 25 honors credit hours and attain a 3.5 cumulative GPA, as a Dean's Honors Scholar one must complete 16 honors credit hours and attain a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Special housing for Honors students is available in the residence halls with other Honors students. Trips to such destinations as Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh are planned throughout the year, as well as ski trips and other social and cultural events in the local community.
