Additional Program Information
About The Program: What is the Business Essentials Certificate Program? The Business Essentials Certificate Program at Ramapo College of New Jersey offers a suite of courses addressing core business competencies, as well as professional seminars to develop relevant skills for today’s workplace. The program gives you a broad foundation in the business disciplines of accounting, marketing and management principles. Students can further customize their certificates by choosing to study business law, information technology, or corporate finance. All courses are college level and credit bearing and have been chosen from the core curriculum of the Anisfield School of Business. These four courses are supplemented by two Personal Effectiveness Seminars chosen from an array of hands-on topics such as Time Management, Negotiating Skills, Conflict Resolution and Managing People. Who will benefit from the Business Essentials Certificate Program? College students with non-business-majors seeking to enrich their academic experiences and broaden their career prospects by developing a working knowledge of fundamental business concepts. Examples include a communications major interested in radio and television production, a nursing student interested in hospital management, a psychology major who plans to one day open a private practice, and a bioinformatics major seeking a career in the pharmaceutical industry. Adult Learners. Examples include, a small business owner who feels he/she has not had sufficient training in business fundamentals, a working individual seeking a career change into a more business oriented position, and a college graduate with a non-business degree preparing to apply to, or begin, an MBA program. How Long Will It Take? It is expected that most students will complete their course work during the summer sessions when sufficient sections of each course will be offered at convenient times. To meet the needs of working students, at least one section of each course will be offered either online or in an evening timeslot of the summer sessions. By taking one course in each summer session, a student should be able to complete the certificate program in as little as two summers. An ambitious student could even complete it in one summer, by taking both day or online and evening courses during both sessions. Program Website - http://www.ramapo.edu/cipl/essentials.html
