About This Campus

Located in the Laurel Highlands foothills of tree-blanketed southwestern Pennsylvania, Penn West at California rests on the banks of the Monongahela River in a peaceful rural college town setting. NSE students have access to outdoor recreation activities, including nationally recognized Ohio Pyle State Park and also to the city of Pittsburgh, often ranked a most livable city in America by national publications. NSE students are personally provided with opportunities to experience the variety the region presents. The university was founded in 1852 and presently focuses on taking an active role in the resurgence of the Southwestern Pennsylvania region. All residence halls have been newly constructed with climate controlled apartment-style design. Other extensive new construction includes academic buildings and recreational facilities. A 180 acre recreation complex is also readily available to students.
